Kenny Larkin – Dark Comedy Comes To DC

Post image of Kenny Larkin – Dark Comedy Comes To DC

On September 10, 2009, comes a real treat for the Nation’s Capital comes in the form of a Detroit Techno Legend.  Kenny Larkin, one of the Detroit Techno “Second Wave” pioneers will be visiting to bring his fusion of techno, jazz, funk, and soul.  Early in his career, he ran into soon-to-be mastermind of M_nus, Richie Hawtin, then a small resident DJ at The Resident.  They both came across a show that featured Derrick May, forever changing Larkin’s path in dance music, and helping to form his dynamic sound as he credits May for being one of his biggest influences.

Since then, Kenny Larkin has traveled over 2 million miles and played at some of the largest dance music events ever carried.  An interesting fact about him… he’s also a stand-up comedian and has gone by the title, Dark Comedy.  The EDM scene in DC still remains small and a bit underground, but is gaining in momentum.  This will surely be something people will want to experience as one of the widely recognized American DJ’s comes to visit us. Big ups to 88 for bringing the techno legend, who has brought other world class DJs such as Richie Hawtin, Paco Osuna, Carl Craig, Jamie Jones, Damian Lazarus, and others.

The show will be at the Muse Lounge, with an opening set by the always exciting resident DJs Measax and Docindo Dorsey.
